Welcome to Thornton’s Holt

We are a quiet family camping park, at Stragglethorpe, a scattered rural hamlet 3 ½ miles south east of Nottingham, between the villages of Radcliffe-On-Trent and Cotgrave.

Thornton's Holt is a family Camping Park accomodating both caravans and tents on spacious well maintained pitches.  We have a friendly farm type atmosphere with free ranging hens, ducks and guinea fowl wandering around the park.  During your stay you might like to meet our horses Eric and Spike, our border terrier Pickle, and our three cats that specialise in reception duties! 

There is a small shop at Thornton's Holt and across the road is The Shepherds Pub and Carvery. The local villages of Cotgrave and Radcliffe on Trent are well equipped with small supermarkets and takeaways.

We have an indoor heated swimming pool and large childrens play area for those under 12 years.  

If you are not keen on tents and caravans try out our comfortable and cosy holiday cottage, The Annex.  It is available for long weekends, mid week and week long stays throughout 2009. See the side menu for more details. 

Our location within the Trent Valley is ideal for those wishing to explore our local area including the Vale of Belvoir and Sherwood Forest. 

The City of Nottingham is also on our doorstep, just a short bus ride away.  It's great for shopping and home to several tourist attractions. 

Dogs are welcome, they need a holiday too!  Please remember to keep your dog on a lead, clean up after them, and ensure they don't disturb you neighbours. 

Just up the road from Thornton's Holt is the Cotgrave Country Park and the Grantham Canal. It's great for exploring with children, dogs and bikes.

We have a RECYCLING system in operation.   

Our guests will be asked to separate their paper, cardboard, plastics, tins and glass from their non-recyclable waste. 

We hope to reduce the amount of waste going to landfill from Thornton's Holt by 50% this year.
