Thornton’s Holt is a spacious camping park. Our 155 pitches are spread over 14.5 acres, leaving open grass areas perfect for children to play on. Our pitches take a maximum of 6 people, and only one car is permitted per pitch.
Our hardstandings are topped with fine granite chips, providing a stable surface whatever the weather. They are 5.5m wide, a minimum of 8m long, and separated by grassed areas. You must pitch your caravan and awning on the hardstanding and park your car across the front. You will need to bring rock pegs or purchase some from our shop.
Our standard grass pitches are 10m wide and a minimum of 10m long. They are suitable for tents and caravans, and are available from April to October, with and without Electric Hook up. Some grass pitches will accept small motorhomes or campervans but we do advise that these are often more suited to hardstandings.
Our grass pitches accomodate a maximum tent size of 6.5m x 7m. If you have a larger tent over 7m long (including any canopies or porches), you will need to tell us when you book. Tents over 9m will need two pitches. Two tiny tents (1 or two man only) may share one pitch for no additional charge.
Day visitors to your pitch must register at reception and pay the Day Visitor fee.
Car parking on site is charged for and very limited. Day Visitors may need to park off site in the Shepherds Park and Ride which is a short walk away. These cars may not pass through the main barrier or park on your pitch.
Our pitches take a maximum of 6 people over 5yrs old, this includes your Day Visitors.
Day Visitors must leave the premises by 6pm.
You may use your pitch space flexibly but please ensure that all tents are pitched at least 3m apart and do not encroach on the space of other guests. We have areas suitable for caravans and tents to pitch together.
If you book a second car with you to Thornton's Holt there is a small additional charge of £5 per night. If you prefer, free parking is available a short walk away at the Shepherds Park and Ride facility.
If you wish to use a gazebo you will need to book and pay for a seperate pitch to put it on. Gazebos may not share a pitch with a tent, caravan or motorhome.
